In 1979 - Lady pink - ( Sandra Fabara ) started writing graffiti . She made a name for herself as one of the only females capable of competing with guys in the graffiti world. She went on to paint ( or bomb ) NYC subway trains until 1985. Lady Pink is considered a cult figure in Graffiti / Hip-Hop culture for her starring role in the classic "Wild Style" film which came out in 1982.

“It's difficult for a woman to be involved with Graffiti. There is an attitude that women are too weak and also a liability, or the attitude that they just can't do it. I was 15 at the time and I didn't want to hear that. As a woman in Graffit you might as well throw your reputation in the dirt. Everyone thinks you sleep around with the guys . I needed to hold my head up and prove that I could do it for other women...”

Lady Pink was already exhibiting paintings in art galleries while still in High School. By the age of 21 she had her first solo Art show at the Moore College of Art. Many of her canvases have been a part of art collections at such prestigious venues as the Whitney Museum, the MET in New York City, the Brooklyn Museum and the Groningen Museum of Holland. Lady Pink also produces large indoor and outdoor murals commissioned for businesses. Lady Pink runs her own mural company with her husband who is known as SMITH in the graffiti art world. Pink has also positioned artists into donating public art in neglected neighborhoods. She also shares her 20 years of expertise by lecturing college students and also holding mural workshops with youth .
